I was looking through some expo industry news this week and wanted to share some news tidbits.
Hawaii Convention Center awarded $80,000 in rebates for energy upgrades. (Holy frijoles!) As the latest in a series of conservation efforts focusing on Hawaii’s natural resources, the center installed new variable frequency drives (VFDs) to loading dock area fans to ensure optimum air quality. A VFD improves efficiency by adjusting motor speed to more closely match output requirements, which typically results in energy savings.
Several chapters of The Exhibit Designers and Producers Association (EDPA) are holding their summer outings this month, including the NorCal Chapter Annual Golf Event August 16 at Crystal Springs Golf Course, Burlingame, Calif. Also, we have the South East EDPA Chapter’s Get Out of the Gutter Bowling Tournament August 23 in Atlanta. You don’t need to be a member to participate.
A 2,500-square-foot Bob Hope traveling exhibit is now exhibiting at the Greenwich Heritage Centre in London. Commissioned by the World Golf Hall of Fame and Museum, the exhibit’s opening coincided with the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Titled “Bob Hope – A World of Laughter,” the exhibit will return to the United States for its next booking at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans later this year as a continuation of its five-year tour.
